There are several diseases and medical conditions that only affect women or usually affect women more than men. Some of them are highlighted here, including their symptoms.

Breast cancer

Women aged 45 years old and above are more prone to it, particularly if the condition runs in the family. If there are more than one woman in the family who’s had breast cancer, chances are, there would be more. The most common sign is solid, static mass. Have yourself examined; most lumps found on women are just fibrocystic lumps that are non-cancerous.

Osteoporosis

Although it can affect anybody, this condition is more common in women. The early part usually does not give off signs, but once in the more developed stage, a woman can feel bone and muscle pain, especially at the lower back and the neck. Sharp pains that come and go is another sign.

Urinary tract infection

A very common female condition, UTI happens when the lower urinary tract becomes infected or irritated. The most common sign is a burning sensation when peeing and urinating more times that normal. Mild fever and pain in the lower abdomen are also common to those who have advanced conditions.

There are other common conditions and diseases that usually affect women, these three are just a small part of them. To make sure that you are healthy, have a thorough physical exam every year.
